A court is a place where people meet in a courtroom to ask questions and listen to witnesses.
The person in charge of the courtroom is called the judge or the sheriff.
You can be a witness in a criminal court case. This is when the court decides if someone has broken the law.
This can be at a place called the sheriff court or at a place called the High Court.
If you are a witness in a children's hearing court case this will be at a place called the sheriff court. This is when the court decides if a child needs help.
